In a fit of potential foolishness we went back via Trafalgar Square (the hotel was on Gloucester Road, and we were taking the tube from Embankment). Surprisingly deserted, except for drunks youngsters who only knew the first line of "We'll meet again", and the stage thing, which wasn't dismantled when we were waiting on the steps of St Martin's the following evening.
Far as we're concerned, the really good thing about the concert was that we could walk down the middle of Whitehall without getting run down (though, on reflection, that's because they didn't re-open the street ofter the Cenotaph parades in the afternoon)
