Take the quiz: "Which American City Are You?"

New York
You're competative, you like to take it straight to the fight. You gotta have it all or die trying.

I dunno about that, I think I shoulda got something lazier in nature :)
Work has been hectic as ever but I'm getting a handle on the travelling and now that the big wigs have pushed off, I'm getting settled in the office. There have been minor wrinkles however. For instance, our manager started on Tuesday and quit on Thursday....apparently he missed his old place too much. So we are managerless again. We've got a Head Office Floater as a branch manager, along with the Regional Manager (who I really like, he's cool!) and we've kidnapped a branch manager designate from another store on a temporary basis (i.e. it could be a couple of months before he's allowed to go back to his home store).
What we desperately need are sales people, particularly experienced sales people. Our two new guys are a little raw around the edges and this is a tough store to sell in. We had 2 very, very experienced sales people in last week, in addition to Christine the HO Manager. These are people whose names appear on ALL the sales league tables on the front page in the top 10 or 10 sales for our company in the country, and they found it hard going. Only one of them made target for the week. And the store was well down on sales too. :(
Keith, a superb sales man and all round nice guy, was moved to rant for five minutes on the stores customers. I can't produce the entirety of it here but the essence was "I could say to them "OK, the suite is yours, free. Free delivery, you've won the car, the holiday and the frickin' yacht and a £1000 to spend on what you like, do you want the furniture?" and they'd just stand there and go "Mmmm, not sure..."!" :)
Ah well, maybe when we're more established, it'll be a little easier. My job will certainly be a lot easier when the whole business of what warehouse will deliver to what areas is sorted out. Apparently the two nearest warehouse managers are meeting with Dave the Regional today, over coffee, snacks and a bloody large map of London to sort the matter out.
I'm looking forward to seeing who won :)
And now I have two days off to enjoy. Happy lil' me :) *curls up round large mug of tea and purrs*
