So I've been on Eastern Standard Time for over two weeks now and I'm getting a bit fed up of it. I mean, it was great when I was actually in the EST zone but not so helpful now. So I had a cunning plan, a plan so cunning it had a degree of Cunning from Cunning University*. Today was the day the engineer was coming to fix my Sky digibox so that once more I could get all the channels I was actually paying for. "I know!" I said, naively. "I'll stay awake until the engineer rings first thing, about 9am, and find out what time he's going to get here. Then I can either nap and set the alarm or stay awake a bit long and nap later. Short nap, no more than 4 hours. then I will keel over at about 10pm and huzzah! I shall be back on good ol' BST."

Bah!

First part of plan goes swimmingly, I'm still bright eyed and bushy tailed at 9am. Then the engineer rings and gives me a gloomy prognosis that he might be there by "lunchtime". Damn. He can't narrow it down and he might arrive earlier or later. Well, the odds are he won't arrive until 3, but I can't take that chance, because I know if I crash out, there's a very good chance that if he DID show up, I wouldn't hear the doorbell. I usually surface because the front door is just the other side of the wall from my bed, but that's under normal circumstances.

So I stayed awake all bloody day and the engineer git turns up at 4.20pm. There are no words.

No, that's a lie, there are words. "Crazyhead" springs to mind. I shoulda just crashed and be damned.

I am now in hour 29 of being awake. I'm actually remarkably coherent considering though I wouldn't want to drive or do anything complex, like, say, reading the back of the cornflakes packet.

The good news is engineer has been and gone, beaten up my sky dish and installed a shiny new digibox. I can now watch most of the channels again. I do, however, have to wait a few hours for sky to update my system so it recognises the viewing card, but I can ring a number to prod them if there's urgent need.

Given that I'm now going to bed for a bit, I don't think there'll be urgent need.

Maybe I should just move to the Eastern Standard time zone. It would be simpler......*sobs*

PS: ooooooooooooooodles of huggles and best wishes to [livejournal.com profile] lithium_doll who is once more in the wars and banned from using the computer for a few days until her shoulder heals properly. And she'll be on light computer rations for a while after that. Get well soon hon, it's awfully quiet without you but don't you dare rush back too soon! *hugs*

* Yes, I'm quoting Blackadder (BA 3, IIRC). Yes, I know it's not quite the right quote. I've been awake for 29 frickin' hours, I don't care :P

Boston Red Sox 10 New York Yankees 3

What a game! What a series! Baseball might not be the most accessible sport in the world, but by golly, it can deliver the thrills, spills and tension when it tries!

That was worth staying up until dawn for *beams a Happy Mitchy Beam*

Go Sox! Go Sox! ALCS Champions!

Now for the world series. Man, I'm just not gonna be on BST any time soon......
