.....on September 11, 2001?
I was at home, online, chatting to people.
lithiumdoll told me to turn on the TV, cos a plane had crashed into one of the towers in NYC. I did, and thought "Wow what a horrible accident." And then the second plane slammed in. I stood, stupefied, watching it for ages until I realised that it was no accident and nothing was ever going to be the same again.
.... when Princess Diana died?
At a friend's house at a party. I learned about it on the Sunday. I'd stayed overnight and was sleepily slurping tea while channel hopping. But there wasn't anything on, just a series of talking heads. Gradually, it dawned on me what they were talking about and I ran and got Nigel and Karen to watch too.
..... when the Challenger exploded?
I can't remember. I remember picking up the paper the next day and seeing the entire front page with the photo of the explosion on it and being horrified. That picture is in my Top Ten Front Pages I Will Remember For Ever.
......Reagan was shot?
I have no idea. I was at school and probably only paid attention to the newspapers the next day.
.....the year rolled over from 1999 to 2000?
Having my worst New Year's Eve EVER. I was sick, so was the b/f. But we dragged ourselves over to a big party at a friend's house in Cambridge. We shouldn't have gone, or at least I shouldn't have gone. I had a temperature, I felt sick, I was miserable. I tried to join in the fun but it was a struggle. In the end, I insisted on going back home a few minutes after midnight. One to forget.
