The drive down to Exeter to visit
lithium_doll and her hubby for New Year was successful. Hurrah! Did it in a shade over 4 hours, which is good and it would have been 3.5 but there was an accident on the M4 resulting in one lane being closed, so I lost some time there. The M4/M5 interchange at Bristol was its usual barrel of laughs but relatively painless in that I got through it with no hold ups. So all in all, it was a darn good trip down. Weather was perfect: dry, overcast so no low-lying sun to bitch things up, and with good visibility. Certainly better than the weather
mostlyarmed had for his drive down from Scotland. By all accounts all he needed was a hurricane and he'd have had the set :)
Pressies have been exchanged and I'm now the happy owner of Delia's "How to Cook" Book 1, a toy Ford Capri (very Professionals!) and a Colin Farrel calendar! Squee! *drool. Swoon. THUD!* In honour of this, I was "forced" to watch CF in "S.W.A.T": it has big guns and good looking guys. It was good :) So yeh, I'm shallow, wanna make something of it? :)
We also watched "Once Upon A Time in Mexico" (Depp! Banderas! Yay!) and "Grosse Point Blank" (More guns! John Cusack! Yay!). Finally we watched "Jesus Christ Superstar", the film of the late 90's stage revival. Was good, but Glenn Carter really doesn't have the range. Why couldn't they have got Steve Balsamo for it? He was feckin' ace. *whinge whinge*
And now it's New Year's Eve and I'm in good company with food, booze, dvds, booze, silly games and booze. Have I mentioned the booze yet? Should be a good NYE :)
Hope everyone on my flist has a Happy and safe New Year's Eve. See you all in 2005!
