I was in London yesterday afternoon evening, meeting up with my Canadian friends, Patricia and Soren and son, Eric; and Rik and Carol, who are based in Stockport and have featured in these august pages before.

The Captain's Cabin was blissfully quiet so we effortless got a table, much aided by the Canadians arriving within two minutes of me. Rik and Carol showed up very shortly after that and happy huggles and hellos ensued. Patricia, despite instructions not to, brought two huge bags of goodies for us. Hee! I got a Toronto Blue Jays Baseball cap, a bottle of maple syrup, two packets of biscuits, a bottle of icewine and brandy and, the stuff that just absolutely HAS to be taken down to Exeter for the Silver Lining Party, a tin of Map-O-Spread, which is "composed sugar spread". Apparently, it's lovely on pancakes, ice cream, toast and as icing. Knowing the sugar fiends who'll be eating this, I'm guess it'll also work "licked off the spoon" :D

Much booze was consumed, along with mass amounts of food. Most of us indulged in the excellent fish and chips on offer and we all succumbed to dessert. I had Strawberry Eton Mess - a concoction of strawberries and broken bits of meringue mixed up with a gallon of cream. Mmmmmm-MMMMMM!

There was ridiculous amounts of happy yakking about all and sundry. This was Patricia and Soren's first visit to England and they were having a ball. They only came over because Eric was visiting a friend here and he insisted they come over with him, instead of procrastinating and putting it off. Yay Eric! He left early as he was due to be up at 4am to get to Stanstead and catch a flight to Denmark, where he was visiting Soren's cousins. 4am? *shudders* We called it a night fairly early ourselves as we all wanted to get back to our homes/hotels before the 15,000 people listening to the concert in Trafalgar Square decided they wanted to go home.

Happily, I encountered no delays at all and was home by 11. Where I clung to a mug of tea and a pint of water and crashed out by midnight. Then woke up at 4am with a splitting headache. Had more water and tea with some paracetamol and managed to fall asleep again by 7am. Woke up again at 12. So I'm not on peak form today at_all. Ahh well :) It was worth it, Patricia and Soren are lovely, lovely people and it's always a joy to see them. Eric was good company too, it was good to meet him and it's always fun to natter to Rik and Carol. Now, I must go have more tea. *totters off*

1) Total number of films you own on DVD/video: Ack. Erm. Easily into 3 figures now. I have about 50 dvds alone. Minimum. Having all seven seasons of ST: Voyager on video (those 2 ep vids they released) boosts the tally effortlessly.

2) The last film I bought: Bought four because it's rare I can confine my DVD buying to just one. I am weak. Brubaker, Practical Magic, The Natural and The Electric Horseman

3) The last film I watched: The Electric Horseman at home. Constantine at the cinema

4) Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me:

28 Days - my comfort movie :)
Sleepless in Seattle - my other comfort movie :D
The Thomas Crown Affair (the Brosnan/Russo remake)
Sanjuro
Empire Records - my third comfort movie :)

Finally, tag five people to do this meme:
