Scribblings from the Mitchy Side

Had a fantastic evening yesterday as I scampered into London to finally meet the one and only smokingboot. We've been threatening to do this for a while but finally took the bull by the horns, so to speak, and actually got organised.

We met at the Salisbury and ended up staying there as smokingboot had craftily nabbed a table. She recognised me right off but I'm not sure I'd have recognised her - really, my facial recognition skills suck :) Hugs were exchanged, booze was purchased and then we settled down for four hours of happy yakking. We hit it off right away and the conversation just flowed, helped no doubt by the cider (me) and the gin and tonics (her). It was so cool to finally meet her and she's every bit as funny and interesting in real life as she is on LJ, despite her protestations to the contrary.

There was a pause for food, which was delicious. The Salisbury does good pub grub and the sausage and mash with red onion gravy is delicious :) They have a different flavour sausage every day and last night it was pork 'n' leek. Mmmm! The conversation paused, fractionally, while we did full justice to the food. Then we started up again and continued chatting about everything from football to tarot to work to cats to internet names to life rules to places to live to ...well you get the idea *grins* You know it's a good evening when you look at your watch, thinking it's not much later, and in actual fact, two hours have gone by since you last checked :)

We finished fairly early because smokingboot is working today - in fact, I have the TV on now ready to watch :) It was a lovely evening and we both agreed we must do it again soon. Yay!

I'm only mildly hungover this morning, which is a relief. I foresee plenty of water in my near future though :) And there's tennis and football today! And Dr Who! And baseball! YAYYY! I'm a happy Mitchy :)
