A meme because I got sidetracked instead of going to bed )

And I really should be in bed and not doing memes. Going to visit Aunty Eve early tomorrow.

Went over to Rainham today to see Aunty Eve. She was NOT a well bunny over Christmas, although all I knew was that she'd had a really bad reaction to some antibiotics. She kind of sidled of the subject of WHY she needed antibiotics but for her to even say she'd been pretty miserable meant she'd been really hit hard. To put this in perspective, she got shingles about 4 years ago and the most I got out of her was it "hadn't been pleasant" o_0 So you can imagine my concern.

Had a reasonable journey over there, despite the torrential rain. Bleh. The M25/Dartford/M2 interchange is horrible enough with good visibility but I made it in one piece. Aunty Eve looked ok, happy to see me and definitely sounded better than she did on the phone earlier in the week. She is, however, wheezier than an asthmatic bullfrog and wobblier than a weeble, only sadly, she could fall down.

Medical stuff )

Still, she assured me she was up to going out for lunch and so we went, where else, to the Snoring Owl. We had a superb lunch, one of the best I've had there and they've all been good. I had pan fried chicken in a Stilton and leek sauce with new potatoes and veggies. Mmmmm!!! Aunty Eve polished off a plate of roast chicken and vegetables, which did me good to see - when her appetite goes, I'll know we're screwed. We had a small argument over the bill, which she insisted on paying and I only caved in because she was getting all stressed and worked up about it. *sighs* Next time, I'm paying whether she likes it or not.

Back home, we paused to drop a few things off and then went next door to her lovely neighbours to re-visit the cute kittens I saw last time. They've grown! But they're still adorable and Leo curled up and snoozed on my lap, while Tigger curled up next to Aunty Eve and purred his head off obligingly. I was honoured by the oldest cat, Thumper, who's a stately 19, tottering down onto my chest off the back of the sofa and eventually curling up there for a nap. To say I was pinned was an understatement!

It was a wrench to prise myself loose but I managed it. The weather home was even worse than it had been in the morning, the rain was so bad I had to turn off the music in the car cos I couldn't hear it! But again, I got home safely, so all is good. Oh and Aunty Eve liked her Christmas present, which was 2 cds, one by Katherine Watson and one by Il Divo. I hope she enjoys 'em.

Unrelated Aside - funniest thing seen on motorway today. Van for a motorway maintenance company, with a large picture of a gritting lorry on a snowy road and the slogan "Our fame is spreading". *groans* I may have even gritted my teeth in pain....Yeh, ok, going now...*whooosh*
