There's about to be a wank fest in the Wheel of Time fandom. Brace yourselves. The author passed away yesterday after a long illness. It's been a standing (bitter) joke that he'd die before finishing the Wheel of Time series and it has come to pass; he was half way through the 12th book.
I stopped reading WoT many years ago, for a number of reasons, but I'd be the first to say he created a universe that many found enthralling and he'll be much missed in fantasy writing. He fought a courageous battle against his illness and that can only be admired. Comments about his work can rest for while longer. RIP.
