1. Had a reasonable day at work today, managed to survive going to SmartArse's for lunch. He'd invited a whole bunch of us, not just folks from our office but a few people from another office too. In the end only 6 of us (all from our office) turned up. I was kinda glad we went after that. I don't like him much but to not go would have been kinda mean. And he's not all bad. He put on a decent lunch and was a very good host. And the house he lives in is GORGEOUS. One of those new build terrace houses with five stories. They have 4 bathrooms, one en suite, two kitchens - one on the ground floor handy for the conservatory and garden and the main one upstairs that's absolutely superb, 3 bedrooms, two offices - a small one upstairs that SmartArse uses for a music/games room and the main one downstairs next to the ground floor kitchen. The rooms are not large but they're not small either, it all just seemed to fit the house, if you know what I mean. And whatever else I might say about him, he's got a superb eye for decor and furniture, I mostly just drooled my way around the house. It's made me very determined to buy a house and fix it up the way I want it so I can be as comfortable in it as he is in his.
2. I'm going senile *pauses to wait for the chorus of "What do you mean, going...?" to die down*. I bought a salad from Morisson's salad bar, being oh so careful to avoid sweetcorn. Or so I thought. Imagine my befuddlement to realise that the rice salad I slathered over as a top layer was 50% sweetcorn. I mean.....seriously, that takes skill. I don't even know how I failed to notice it! *sobs* (And that reminds me, I must complain to Morrison's. I know not being able to eat sweetcorn is a fairly rare allergy and I accept that it's a great addition to a salad but out of 10 mixed salads at the bar, six had sweetcorn in. That's a bit much. There must be people who just don't like sweetcorn who'd like to have the option of not buying it by default. I mean, they could have a separate container for sweetcorn like they do cucumber and tomato, right? Bah!)
3. Off out to London tomorrow to meet up with a Mysterious Stranger. OK, not so mysterious but we've not met offline before so that should be fun.
minmorton and I know each other via
quirkybird but min wasn't able to come and meet
quirkybird when she came over last summer so I didn't get to meet her then. We've discovered we both like cartoons so we're going to visit the Cartoon Museum. They've got a Gillray exhibition I'd really like to see and the Heath Robinson collection looks fabulous. So there shall be happy browsing by all :)
4. There is no four. It's gone to make tea.
PS: Leeds lost the playoffs to Millwall. MILLWALL. BAH! I'd have a temper tantrum but I was kinda resigned to us losing. Our playoff record is truly appalling. Oh well, roll on next season :)
