mitchy: (Not Going To End Well)

...flist, I appeal to you, have you ever come across this?

We had a mystery that we couldn't solve - periodically we'd go to the bathroom and find the lid and seat of the toilet soaking wet. And I mean soaking, like it had been under the shower. The area around the toilet was completely dry.

Solved it. While in the bathroom just now, I heard a vile gurgling noise and then water geysered up from the toilet bowl. Thank all the gods there was nothing but water in it at the time!! WTF?? What the hell is causing that? It's only started in the last couple of days. There's no pipe work going in the vicinity and in the 15 years I've lived here, it's never done that before.

I'll ring the water people tomorrow and wail at them but have any of you seen this before? Know what it is? I have cover with my water company for emergencies, I'm hoping this qualifies because I not long ago shelled out an absurd sum to get the toilet fixed. And yes, it could be related, I guess, but why has it taken so long for this to occur? The new toilet was fitted weeks ago.
