I don't know what to tell you -- I did do some research that suggested letting one of the online services scan your computer. Otherwise, your best bet will be to try to do virus scans in safe mode and all.
@BartCo: please do the following: - disable System restore: right-click on My computer -> choose Properties -> go to System restore tab and check "Turn off System restore..." - restart the computer in safe mode - perform a full scan (all files) and clean all infections - restart the computer normally and enable back System restore
