I'm trying to find a fic I'm sure I linked to in my LJ sometime in the past 18 months. A search of tags hasn't revealed anything helpful (dammit). Is there a way I can search just my LJ for a particular word combination? *pokes search options* I'm not seeing anything but that's nothing new :P

If your LJ options are set to allow robots/spiders/search engines to log stuff, and it's not f-locked, you might be able to coax Google into helping.

Installing this baby helps, and it then shows up on your userinfo page (be sure to select 'search my journal').

Google has been surprisingly good if you type in "mitchy lj (search term)".

Oooh there's a handy gizmo *installs* Cheers! I'm thinking I must have my LJ blocked though because it's not finding anything at all, even for search terms I know exist in my LJ. Great gizmo though, it'll be useful for other things. Thaaaank you :)

There's a 'Minimize your journal's inclusion in search engine results' option down at the bottom. If that's not ticked, you might be in luck.

Drat, it's ticked. Looks like I'm doing the the "click through every entry for the last 18 months" thing :) Thanks for your help though :) That search term is going to be useful for other LJs.

FOUND IT!! *glee* Although, after all that, it doesn't look like I posted about it. *frowns* Could have SWORN I did. I managed to track down the email I sent the author, so I found it that way :)
