So just to put up something of actual substance, at least by comparison, here's an update :)
Work still sucks rocks but we're getting to the end of the insane period now, so far with no fatalities. This always counts as a good year.
I went to a solicitors last week to just be walked through the processes of what's involved with sorting out Aunty Eve's estate. I'm not an executor or anything but I wanted to know what the executors can/can't do and what I can expect to happen. Not that I don't trust the two people who are handling it, but it seemed sensible to find out for myself, y'know? Anyway, a very nice lady at the biggest local solicitors talked me through it all and I feel much more comfortable about the whole process now.
Manpower are total, utter arseholes - but this isn't really news, is it? Not only have they not yet processed my P45, they haven't actually terminated my employment because they still owe me half a day's holiday pay which they haven't paid yet. Why the hell this wasn't done at the same time as my last salary was worked out, they were unable to say. I won't get that day's pay until next Friday. Ten working days after that, I might actually see my P45. Which means I'll have to get my first salary paid on the emergency tax and then get it all back later. Useless gits. Battleship was on leave yesterday but when she comes back on Tuesday, I'll sic her onto 'em. It really isn't good enough or acceptable and HR and Payroll won't be impressed either. They've already tried to dock another temp two days of leave she was owed but Battleship thwarted that one. *shakes head*
In news of utter squeeful joy, Idina Menzel is doing a cd signing in London while she's over here for Chess! Gleeeeee!! Saturday May 17th is the date I have, although the Dress Circle store haven't yet put the info up on their website. SQUEEEEE!! If I can't stage door after Chess (I'm still dithering on staying in a B&B overnight or heading home asap) at least I'll have this to look forward to! Eeeeee!! *bounces like a happy fan girly* I now return you to your regular LJ news...
*yawns* And now my weekend awaits. Must see what sports are on for loafing meeces to watch :)
