A review of my year..in rhyme.
I was feeling creative earlier and this was the result! (And I haven't even touched the cider yet!)
'Twas the night before Christmas,
And all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring,
Not even this mouse.
All curled up and contented
With tea and a cat,
Snoozing so peacefully
in her Santa hat.
As she dozed she remembered
Times that had passed.
2008 was
nearly over at at last.
It was a year that had had
Some wonderful things,
But there'd been some real low points
As every year brings.
It had started quite badly,
when last Christmas Eve,
her beloved Aunty took ill
and could barely breathe.
Three months in hospital
Went by oh so fast
Until that day in March when
She breathed her last.
It was a terrible loss
but it was hard to grieve
over a life lived as well
as by her Aunty Eve.
In February there loomed,
A most dreaded date,
The mouse tried to deny it
But couldn't avoid Fate.
It was the big 4-0 birthday,
Which filled her with dread,
Until she appealed to her flist

halcyon_shift read.
She wanted to do something
So she formed a plan.
She plotted with the flist
As only she can.
And a lucky old mousey
Got her ticket for Chess!
Some flowers and a camera!
Her friends are the best!
By the time Chess rolled around,
The mouse needed tranqs!
But she had the BEST time and
she's STILL full of thanks!
To make May truly special,
A competition went well,
And she got to meet her idol,
Idina Menzel!
*pause for squee*
SQUEE!
*cough*
/pause
In August the mousey,
Had her own cunnning plan,
"I want to go and see Rent
in New York if I can!"
The last minute trip was booked,
Two weeks beforehand.
Friends Mary and Jenni joined
In with the plan.
And so on August 30th
With awe and delight,
The three of them saw Rent and
it was a wondrous sight!
There was much happy squeaking
by a delirious mouse
who clapped and cheered as the cast
brought down the house.
The icing on the cake came
when the show was over,
And Tracie Thoms signed her Rent
DVD cover!
*pause for more squee*
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!
/pause
But back in the UK, her
health did decline
so badly the doctor made
her first in line
For emergency surgery
to cure her disease.
She spent 3 weeks in hospital
And it wasn't a breeze.
halcyon_shift plotted again
(She's a tiny god!)
And reformed the Committee
who bought her an iPod!
*pause ...oh you know the drill!*
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!
So through the highs and the lows
one thing is now clear:
that her friends are the greatest
and have made her year.
Overall she feels positive
and she doesn't whine,
But nor will she mind when
it's 2009!
So bring on the new year and
let us carouse!
May the new year be wonderful!
And Merry Christ-mouse!
