Royalty and a tv meme
Not words I ever thought I'd type in a subject line :)
We had a Royal visit at work today, one of my favourites too, The Princess Royal. Anne, bless her, is serious about her charities, one of which is The National Deafblind and Rubella Association. HCC has just launched a new scheme to help deafblind people and their carers and HRH came to officially launch it. Pretty spiffy. I didn't get to see her (the scrum anywhere NEAR the event was ridiculous) but a colleague was lucky enough to see her leaving and get reasonably close. She looked very nice, apparently. :)
Tennis - The Match That Would Not End ended with John Isner winning 70-68. Feast your eyes on that score, folks, because I'm pretty damn sure it'll never happen ever again.
Right, meme and then I must tuck myself up in my pitlet.
Had a discussion with
thessalian about this last night. It's true that often what you like about a title sequence is the music or theme song, rather than the actual pretty pictures. It's rare that you get the ideal combination of both. We both agreed Burn Notice is exceptional, in that it's concise but covers all the salient points about show backstory and characters and it's pretty amusing. For theme songs, I adore Big Bang Theory's theme song, as you may have gathered, and I will happily headbang along to it every.single.time, even if I'm marathoning it on DVD :) I'm also very fond of Eureka's theme tune and the graphics aren't bad but it loses marks for being a smidge toooo long.
But for sheer beauty of graphics and great theme tune, I've got to go with this:-
Look at the attention to detail! Remember, CGi was still relatively new back then and this really was an eyeopener as to what it could do. Look at the way Voyager pushes through that nebula. Look at the shadow when it flies over the planetary rings! Gorgeous, just gorgeous :)
