...still at HCC. EMT decided to keep me a couple of extra days so I don't finish there until tomorrow. Useful but boy, I picked the two wrong days to work, the weather forecast is glorious! *sulks*
So, I have a new bathroom! It's not finished by any means, but I have a shiny new sink and toilet and a fantastic bath. Gods, it's soooo comfortable. I'll be able to read for hours, especially as it does a superb job of retaining the water's heat. I soaked it in for an hour and the water was still warm when I got out :D I'm pleased with the tiles I got too, I went with the bigger sort and a warm white/beige colour. Pics of progress so far will be forthcoming when I have a spare 10 seconds :p
The other problem is my computer died last week. *headdesks* Of course it did, just as I was flinging money around to do the bathroom. Fortunately for humanity, I wasn't internet-less as I was able to connect up my laptop. But tests on the dead compy strongly suggested it would need a new motherboard so I've saved it as a project to do when I have the time and now I have a shiny new PC. The good news is I was able to save my old hard drive so I haven't lost anything. Phew! But the old HD does have all my bathroom photos on it so sharing will have to wait until I have the time and patience to extract them.
Which isn't going to be this week. I snapped and bought a new cooker last week, to replace the 'orrible lump of metal which is currently masquerading as a cooker. Seriously, the only things holding it together are grease and duct tape. The last straw was when I pulled the eye level grill pan out and the handles fell off. I was damn lucky not to get burned or lose my food. So I got Hattie the Wonder Plumber to disconnect the old cooker while she was here doing the bathroom (she didn't charge me for it either, bless her). The new cooker is being delivered Wednesday and I managed to find a gas engineer to come and reconnect it, hopefully on the same day. (Hattie couldn't do it, she's away for a couple of weeks). This is good news, as
jenni411 arrives on Saturday and we embark on our Olympic and Disneyland Paris adventures :D
The last logistical problem I have is getting a cat sitter for Rob for next week. That's a chore I MUST sort tomorrow. He's fine and furry but I don't want to stress hiim out by putting him in a cattery for 5 days. Plenty of local services do cat feeding in the home so I'm trying to source one. He had an Adventure tonight - he decided he was going to jump out of the lounge window. I've never been so glad I live on the ground floor! He was fine, I just opened the cat flap and left him to it. He came in after about 30 minutes, looking pleased with himself. It's been so beastly hot here I can't really blame him for wanting some fresh air, especially as he's stuck in the flat all day. That said, I've closed the window now :P
*falls over* I needs a time turner!
