Flew in yesterday morning, have so far thwarted any jet lag which makes me suspect it's lying in wait :P

Holiday was fantastic: Bouchercon was wonderful and New York was as much fun as ever. There's some photos over on my Facebook page, and more will go up at the weekend :) The cat is happy I'm home and is currently Velcro!Kitty - he was spoiled rotten while I was away by [livejournal.com profile] thessalian although he's trying to convince me he's the most neglected kitteh evah!

Back at work tomorrow but at least it's only a 3 day week.

Just a quick entry to let you know I arrived safely in America on Wednesday after 2 fairly painless flights.

Well, the flights were painless, as was security at all 4 airports. Customs at JFK though is now officially the 7th Circle of Hell. We were queuing in the entrance corridors to just get INTO the customs hall, never mind reach a customs agent. If I hadn't advised them I was trying to make a connection at La Guardia, I probably wouldn't have gotten out of there inside 90 minutes. As it was, 40 minutes later I was able to escape and flee to the next airport. (I may not have told them exactly when my flight from LaG was....*whistles innocently* but I don't regret it, it would have cut things far closer than was comfortable).

So here I am in St Louis attending my *counts carefully* seventh Bouchercon and 'm having a blast. So many online friends here that I haven't seen for years, so it's been great to catch up. Haven't really seen much of St Louis yet but we've got time after the convention to explore. We have done one tourist thing - we got a tour of Busch Stadium, home of the St Louis Cardinals baseball team. Excellent tour, we saw the post suites and the radio booth and backstage stuff AND we got to go onto the field - not the grass, just the warming track but it was still very cool. And we got to sit in one of the dug outs :D All for only $10 too, which I thought was a great bargain.

Tonight there was a B'con auction, where oodles of terrific goodies were sold off to raise money for local libraries. It was a great success, raising just under $17,000. This was mainly due to the $7000 winning bid to be a character in the last Sookie Stackhouse book by Charlaine Harris. I won something too! $300 got me a breakfast and a trip to a gun range with the author Zoe Sharp *beams* Looking forward to that lots :)

Now I must sleep, because it has been a long day :) *thud* *snore*
