I didn't mean to fall in love with another show. I've got enough to download as it is! But [livejournal.com profile] kemintiri mentioned loving House and it stars Hugh Laurie, who I've always liked. The show has just started to air here in the UK and I caught the second episode on Sunday. And was hooked. As in "hook, line and sinker". Deary me.

House as a character is just wonderful. He makes Victor Meldrew look like Pollyanna and Hugh plays him to perfection. His American accent is excellent and I gather from American friends and some online forums that he's impressed the natives mightily too. There are enough layers to House that despite being an utter git, you keep rooting for him, which is a credit to the writing. Of course, in real life, he'd have been fired long before he reached the heady heights of tenure, but it makes for absorbing watching.

So far I've managed to download 10 episodes and I have a couple to watch. I was trying not to watch them as I download them but ration them out. Hah. That went to hell in a handbasket on Monday when I stayed up until 6am watching the five most recent eps :P Oh well, sleep is over rated anyway. So is BST :)

Glad it's as good as I thought it would be. I've been looking forward to it starting over here for a while now. The twinster is taping it at the moment and we shall have a mini House marathon (after our mini NCIS marathon) next time I visit.

And on the subject of Hugh Laurie's accent, Bryan Singer (who's the exec. producer) apparently didn't realise Laurie was British and said, after seeing Laurie's audition tape, 'There, that's what I'm looking for, an American'. Go Hugh! *grin*
