'scuse me while I wax lyrical

I saw something I hadn't seen before while driving home this evening. The weather has been a mite changeable this week and today was no exception. Blue skies and sunshine this morning and this evening, black skies and a thunderstorm.

Driving home, the rain was still pretty heavy and the sky to the east was a smooth dark purple black, one of my favourite colours. However there must have been enough blue sky and sunshine in the west to cause a rainbow. But it was a one colour rainbow - a band of deep red and rose shades, and with only the bottom part of the arch reaching up to the sky. To the east of the rainbow the sky took on the same reddish tinge as the arch, only fainter. To the west of the rainbow, the sky stayed that purple black, creating a delightful contrast.

It was beautiful. What wouldn't I have given for a camera.

*sighs happily*

In other more prosaic news, the job goes well, I'm happy, I'm getting new radiators in the flat in the next couple of weeks so I'll have heat again and, generally, life right now is the best it's been for a while. *looks around, touches wood* Hope I didn't just jinx it :)

Okay, in reverse order:

*knocks frantically on wood*

Heat is good. :-)

Oooh, sounds lovely!

Yay! I hope the happiness keeps flowing!

I'm actually going to resort to taking one of my SLRs, and two lenses with me at all times from now on. I've missed some spectacular shots (including two rainbows, one arching over the other) due to just not having one to hand, which is stupid.

I may be a geek, but I'll be a geek with good pictures.

Hey, glad to hear things are going well :-)

I've banned myself from owning a camera after I misplaced my 3 month old Canon S70 along with a gig memory card with god knows how many pictures on it I'll never see again. How can I just lose something like that?
No new camera for me until I prove to myself I'm not a complete idiot (which could take some considerable time).
