I can report that Simon Schama's "A History of Britain" is as evilly addictive now as it was when I first saw it. I lost about 3 hours tonight gleefully watching the DVDs. And now it's 2 am and I must go to bed.

Was supposed to be visiting Aunty Eve tomorrow but she rang up this evening all of a-twitter about the snow. So in the end, I postponed the trip - it was less stressful for both of us than me convincing her I'd be fine. Although, even allowing for the BBC's tendency to report an inch of snow as a major disaster, it does sound as if Kent is well and truly covered and there's more white stuff on the way. So possibly for the best. I may try again on Friday but it'll looking like the visit will have to wait til the New Year. Phooey.

On the plus side, I urgently have to get my car MoT'd so that gives me more time to arrange something. I also urgently need to shop for a new mattress for my bed. I'm now resorting to sleeping on extra layers to avoid ripping myself on wayward springs and to correct the alarming list to the left. I keep waking up with back ache so clearly it's time that Something is Done. I shall go and prod John Lewis's furniture department and see what's what.

And now I shall sleep. I shall not get another cup of tea and watch "just one more episode" of AHoB...I won't, I won't....Damn, how did this cup of tea get here?

Can I recommend the Sealy posturepaedic range? They really are very good ones - enough support for a person's back and soft enough to be really snuggly. :)

Goodness, didn't you go to bed hours ago? :)

Yes, you may certainly recommend those *takes notes*. I really want a snuggly mattress this time so this is good to know :) Thanks!

*consults your LJ* So I see. That sucks!!

I know what you mean about Bob Ross - I loved that show, even though he essentially painted the same picture every time. But that voice was hypnotic.

Tried having a hot milky drink? Umm, listening to slow, mournful ballads? If all else fails, find a simple game to play, like patience. Repetitive and soothing :)

I still have some of his sleeping aids stuff on video - might have to venture out and buy a couple more. I think Hobbycraft sell them.

I put the electric blanket on and that seemed to work - I fell asleep being toasty warm and didn't wake up until 8.30.
