1. My uncle once: serviced my car. He thought the brakes were "a bit dodgy" but didn't repair them "to save me money". Three days later, while driving at night, around a blind corner, my brakes failed.....
2. Never in my life have I: taken (non-prescribed) drugs. I'm boring like that.
3. The one person who can drive me nuts, but then can always manage to make me smile is: There's two but both read this LJ so I'm not sayin' nowt :)
4. School is: a memory that can never fade fast enough
5. When I'm nervous: I babble
6. The last time I cried was: probably a low moment late last year
7. If I were to get married right now my bridesmaids/groomsmen would be: *scratches head* Well very few of my closest female friends are single. I'd ask the Troodler and
thalinoviel and then I'd risk asking
lithium_doll to be my matron of honour. And if she threatened me with death for even entertaining the idea, I'd ask
therealsherbs :)
8 & 9: Don't exist. It's a trick. A lame trick.
10. When I was 5: Umm, I was almost 33 years younger than I am now.
11. Last Christmas I: cooked my own Christmas lunch and it was edible. Not quite ready to inflict it on others yet, mind.
12. When I turn my head left, I see: My rocking chair
13. When I turn my head right, I see: the rest of the sofa, the bookcase and the door to the kitchen.
14. When I look down I see: My keyboard
15. The craziest recent event was: Last really crazy thing I did was fly to Toronto after an all day drinking session and 2 hours sleep. Never. Again. That was over a year ago but it stands out.
16. If I was a character on Friends I'd be: the next door neighbour who's the butt of all the one liners.
17. By this time next year: I want to be in a permanent job
18. My favourite Aunt is: Aunty Eve. She's not my aunt, technically, she was my Mum's aunt by marriage, but she's my godmother and that's close enough. Also more of an aunty than all my real aunties. She's lovely as anyone who's met her will attest.
19. I have a hard time understanding: modern art
20. One time at a family gathering: I actually enjoyed myself. (My Uncle Harold's 70th bash, good day)
21. You know I "like" you if: I squeak at you.
22. If I won an award, the first person I'd thank is: I'd dedicate it to the memory of my parents
23. Take my advice: Don't bother with the faff of getting travellers cheques if you go to the US. Use your debit/credit card to withdraw money from ATMs. It's a lot less hassle. Unless the cheques are American Express, you might have trouble changing them anyway.
24. My ideal breakfast is: A full English. But someone else has to cook.
25. If you visit my hometown: you're probably passing through. Dunstable is on a major junction on the A5 :)
26. Where do you plan to visit anytime soon: Possibly going to Bristol in March for Left Coast Crime. Not sure yet, wasn't exactly very wise with money this month.
27. If you spend the night at my house: You have GOT to like cats as you'll be sleeping on HIS sofa :P
28. I'd stop my wedding: if I had the slightest doubts
29. The world could do without: -isms (racism, sexism, ageism etc.)
30. I'd rather lick the belly of a cockroach than: go on one of those MegaDeath Monster ride things they keep advertising at Alton Towers.
31. Most recent thing you've bought yourself: Bread
32. Most recent thing someone else bought for you: Something for Christmas

35. And by the way: Princess Bride is totally overrated :)
36. The last time I was high: was when I flew to the US (See answer 2)
37. The animals I would like to see flying besides birds are: Cats. Give the birds something to really squawk about.
38. I shouldn't have: lost my temper the other weekend
39. Once, at a bar: I carefully shredded a beer mat and set it alight. Luckily the landlord knew me well and ignored me.
40. Last night: I watched 3 more episodes of Season 1 of Battlestar Galatica.
41. There's this girl I know who: I can't figure out

45. How many days until my birthday?: 17. Eeek! I have GOT to get the place organised before Sherbski arrives! *flails*

I took this morning off work, because I just could not wake up today. I mean, I'm not exactly a ball of fire in the mornings, but this was silly. And it wasn't because I was late to bed, because I wasn't, I made sure I was in bed for 11.30. Anyway, I had 3 more hours sleep and woke up much refreshed and more like me ;) Got into work for 1.30, stayed until 6. Only 3 hours down for the week, and I'll be able to get it down a bit from that, so not so bad.
One thing that was really sweet was when I phoned in, I got the answering machine (no idea why, it shouldn't be on at that time, but never mind) and so I left a message. When I got in, PartyGirl said she'd been getting ready to text me to see if I was OK, because they hadn't heard from me yet, and she knows I live alone, so.....:) Aww! Good to know someone would check, because otherwise the only indication would be if people didn't see me online for a couple of days.
And now for some football and I might sneak in one more ep of BSG before bed. 11pm bedtime for me tonight!
