....I gave blood today. That's what the sticker I got says , "Be Nice To Me, I Gave Blood Today" :D

It's been ten years, if not more, since I last gave blood and it hasn't changed too much, though they ask way more security questions these days. I hate needles so I was nervous, as usual, until after the needle was in and then after that I was fine. I had a friendly NBS type sitting with me and we had a good natter. No tea afterwards, though, cos it had been more than two years since I last donated. I had to have cold drinks instead. Phooey. But I did get the sticker and free biscuits. Hurrah! :)

Work wasn't quite as manic today, mainly because PartyGirl was back from her holiday in Dubai (horribly tanned, I hate her!), so at least I didn't have to answer quite as many of her phone calls. Monday and Tuesday were both really hectic days. Apparently it's "Ring School Funding And Ask Stupid Questions" season - happens every year around Budget time, the old hands tell me. In between the phone ringing off the hook, Monday was spent wrestling a form into submission, processing some Nursery Education Grant forms and sorting out the last of the Quarter 3 Returns. Then, for light relief, I shifted 57 boxes, ranging in heaviness from light to ooof!, from our storage room in the loft to outside in the corridor, so the Record Management folks could haul them off to the off-site archive. Joy. To be fair, TwoDirections came up and helped, so it didn't take as long as it would have been if had just been me. Even so, I was knackered Monday night.

Tuesday was all about the envelopes. Dear gods, the envelopes. It's that time of year when we send out the packs to the private/voluntary/independent nurseries with all the forms and bumf they need to claim next term's funding. *shudders* Each nursery gets the following: One covering letter (1 sheet), 1 gold form (2 sheets), 1 pink form (1 sheet), 1 green form (1 sheet), 1 lilac form (1 sheet), 1 pricing table (3 sheets), 1 parent declaration form and instruction letter (2 sheets) and an SAE. Picture my desk and most of PartyGirl's covered with stacks of paper, albeit some of it in very pretty shades. Now picture me filling up 464 A4 envelopes with all the bits of paper required. *twitches* Took me the entire day but I got it done. Go team me! So last night I felt accomplished but brain dead.

All in all, I was really glad today was a slower day :) But I will be having another early night. I plan to keep trying this early night thing until I actually wake up of a morning feeling like I got a good night's sleep :P

Two pieces of Good News:-

1) Sweet Charity has so far had £802 pledged to it. EIGHT HUNDRED QUID!! Woot!

2) Diane Duane published the first online chapter of her cat wizard novel today. Heee! It was great!!! *purrs*

I go for the biscuits! A pint of my blood for three Bourbon Creams is a fair exchange in my book. *grin* The only problem being that you don't see the biscuit selection until after you've donated and you can't very well ask for it back when you get to the table and all they have are Ginger Nuts and Fruit Shrewsburys.

*snork* No, I imagine getting it put back would be even more uncomfortable than having it taken out in the first place...
