Bwahahaha!

[livejournal.com profile] jenni411 is a librarian and she's posted some hilarious snippets from a librarian listserve she belongs to. The thread is titled "Silliest Referenced Questions". Toddle over here and hoot yourself silly. All drinks should be moved well away from the keyboard...

Sample comment:-

"Just this week we had a woman that wanted "books on dragons. Not the fake dragons, the real ones. I need to know what colours they were, their breeding habits, and where they lived."

*giggles*

Ok, just for starters, there was the rather distressed couple that came in to say they had come home from holiday to find maggots driping out of their light fitting. I called up the maggot expert (yes, we have one) whilst making soothing noises about how it was likely to be a small dead mouse as the cause, nothing to worry about, soon gone away etc etc. Anyway, maggot man (old school curator, wild white hair and tank top) comes up, and gets wildly enthusiastic about how exciting it is to have these maggots, explains in gory detail how one sexes maggots, then suggests to said couple (now very green round the gills) that what might be fun is to feed the maggots on catfood for a week and see what they turn into. Plus, if they were very very lucky it might be a dead cat under the floorboards and they would have the pleasure of viewing said maggots for weeks. Bless:) Never seen two modern fashionabel types look so ill in a short space of time...
