Still off work

But I am feeling a bit better today. Nearly went in, had a shower and everything, and then I realised that in the 15 minutes since I started moving around, I was wheezing far too much. So not quite there yet. However, given the improvement, I have no excuse for not going in tomorrow. Abject poverty also being a good reason for not having any more time off.

I really need to give them a deadline for offering me a permanent post, it's getting silly. I'd like to be able to be sick without having to count the pennies, thanks!

In other news, I have been catching up on some reading. Demolished two Donna Leon novels in the past two days, both excellent. I really love the setting and the main hero, Commissario Brunetti. You can't read one of these books and not get hungry, though. Deary me, the Italians love to eat and Leon describes lunches that would be a major production here but are every day fare in Italy. *droooools* I need to meet her and beg for recipe books *grins*

I'm now reading the latest Sue Grafton paperback I own, "R for Ricochet". It's good so far and I think, after a slump, Grafton's returning to form. Q was better and R is shaping up well. S should be out now, thinking about it....no, I won't look, I'll be strong. When I've done a five day week at work for a full month, then I can think about the next shopping spree on Amazon :)

ETA: My willpower didn't last long but in my defence, I've only bought one paperback and it was only £3.69!! And it's one of my favouritest series, Margaret Frazier's Joliffe the Player series. I think I now prefer this series to her Sister Frevisse novels, even though those are excellent, too. (Note to self: "The Sempster's Tale" should be out in paperback early next year, with a bit of luck). *slinks off, looking faintly guilty*

S is for Silence is quite excellent, but you should probably wait 'til the paperback. ;) I got it as a birthday gift, otherwise I would have waited.

It's the paperback I was thinking was going to be available but apparently it's not. *grumbles* But I can wait :)

Don't make me come over there w/ more chicken soup!!

And I think someone on RAM posted a while ago that they'd been to a Donna Leon signing & she mentioned she's working on a cookbook. *drooooolllll*

The only good thing about asthma is: unadulterated reading time. What else can ya do? Surf the net, watch dvds and read. That is what I do when I am in Asthmaland.

I hope you are well soon!
