Dear Brave Yuletide Author,
Thank you, first of all, for volunteering for Yuletide. It's always nerve wracking, wondering what assignment you'll get, so I hope the following allieviates any panic and helps a bit.
General - I am alllll about the snark. And the characters who snark. Snark makes me happy. Any banter, humour and lighter moments between characters that shows the relationship between them is a thing of joy. Hurt/comfort is one of my happy places too, but I don't insist on it, characters can bond perfectly well without trauma being necessary. No slash, please, although in the case of NCIS:LA, I'm happy for Sam/Callen to be hinted at but nothing should be shown or made explicit. (Those two are totally like a married couple though!)
The only thing I really need overall is that the characters sound like the characters in the TV show/movie. Out of character "voice" drives me ding dong and while I know it's tough to do, I appreciate a good attempt :) I'm very much a character orientated person, so anything that fleshes the characters out is grand - and I don't care if it gets jossed by the show later.
Also, not a huge fan of gloomy endings. It doesn't have to be happy, happy, fluffy bunnies and kittens (which would clash badly you're writing the 13th Warrior!) but I like there to be at least hope, if not outright happy at the end. No major character deaths, please! If avoidable :) (If you're writing Modesty Blaise, "The Cobra Trap" never happened :P)
( The specifics )
I hope this helps a lil'. Thank you again and I am looking forward to reading your story!
