Dear Brave Yuletide Author,

Thank you, first of all, for volunteering for Yuletide. It's always nerve wracking, wondering what assignment you'll get, so I hope the following allieviates any panic and helps a bit.

General - I am alllll about the snark. And the characters who snark. Snark makes me happy. Any banter, humour and lighter moments between characters that shows the relationship between them is a thing of joy. Hurt/comfort is one of my happy places too, but I don't insist on it, characters can bond perfectly well without trauma being necessary. No slash, please, although in the case of NCIS:LA, I'm happy for Sam/Callen to be hinted at but nothing should be shown or made explicit. (Those two are totally like a married couple though!)

The only thing I really need overall is that the characters sound like the characters in the TV show/movie. Out of character "voice" drives me ding dong and while I know it's tough to do, I appreciate a good attempt :) I'm very much a character orientated person, so anything that fleshes the characters out is grand - and I don't care if it gets jossed by the show later.

Also, not a huge fan of gloomy endings. It doesn't have to be happy, happy, fluffy bunnies and kittens (which would clash badly you're writing the 13th Warrior!) but I like there to be at least hope, if not outright happy at the end. No major character deaths, please! If avoidable :) (If you're writing Modesty Blaise, "The Cobra Trap" never happened :P)

NCIS:LA - my favourite characters are Hetty, Kensie and G, but I love the interaction between them all and the snark between Deeks and Kensie is developing on the show nicely, so anything that looks at them is fine too. If you're good at plot - and if you are, I take my hat off to you because I suck at it - then I'm happy with action and 'splodey stuff but character pieces are great too.

13th Warrior - ok, confession time. I love this movie to teeny, tiny pieces, but I still cannot figure out the majority of the warriors' names. *sigh* Even with subtitles! I mean, Buliwyf, Herger and Rethel the Archer I got figured but the others? Not so much. You're not allowed to mock :P Anything at all in the story that helps me match names to faces in the movie will earn you my undying gratitude. As far as the story goes, I like to imagine they had many adventures on their way to dealing with the Eaters of the Dead, so that the whole party is together. Or that somehow, more of them survived than in the movie and they have adventures afterwards. Whatever works with whatever you're plotting! I loved the way Ibn and Herger got to be friends so anything that looked at their friendship would be grand.

Modesty Blaise - Wow, I am not sure what to say here because MB fic is rare, so I'd be happy with anything! It must primarily feature Modesty and Willie, but I'm happy for there to be appearances from any of the major secondary characters we met in the novels or none at all, as you please. I'm not as familiar with the graphic novels but I know of most of the stories so don't discount that as a source if you've got a Good Idea. Willie playing a practical joke on someone or telling Modesty another girl story is always fun but again, any good dialogue will make me a happy Mitchy.

I hope this helps a lil'. Thank you again and I am looking forward to reading your story!

Sorry, but "The Cobra Trap" did happen.

Of course, Mr O'Donnell can't stop anyone writing about a 94 year old Modesty anymore...
