You may recall that I spent most of March whining loudly about a cough/throat infection that I'd been plagued with. Well, believe it or not, I still have a cough that catches me out at odd moments, mostly first thing in the morning and last thing at night, although I'm not immune from daytime interruptions. Say when I want to do something reckless like climb a flight of stairs, take my asthma inhaler, laugh or, god forbid, attempt a long conversation. I've also been left with chronic laryngitis, which is a bit of a pain as a large part of my job involves answering the phone. If I had a pound for every time some kind soul has said "Ooh you don't sound well, are you ok?", I could probably afford a plane ticket to NYC, which would be rather handy atm.

So I booked an appointment at the doc's for today - hah! 3 weeks I had to wait! - and went had a good old moan about it. I went to a new doctor, because my old one's retired *sniff*. Dr Pardoe agreed with me that it had most definitely Gone On Too Long and she's going to book an appointment for me to see an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. (Any bets how long that'll take to come through? :) ) In the meantime, in case the inhaler use has caused a fungal infection, I have a two week course of rather yummy tablets to suck (mmm lemon flavour!) to see if that helps. On the plus side, my chest is clear as a bell, my throat looks fine, so any problem is likely to be deeper and around the vocal chords. Not entirely impossible I've strained something during the coughing fits or they're inflamed from an infection or some other minor problem. We shall see. As I said to Dr P, I have no other symptoms at all, I feel great, apart from the coughing!
