Not sure if this answers the question exactly, but this is what I found Googling the phrase:
If you get out of bed on the wrong side, you'll probably be grumpy all day. Some sources say the "wrong side" is the left side, because the left is often associated with the Devil. Other sources say that to get out of bed on the right side, you should get out from the same side you got in. Oh, and once you're up, be sure to put your right shoe and sock on first to fend off bad luck.
