My desk at work isn't usually terribly exciting. Four shelves groaning with A4 level arch files above it (I can reach the third shelf if I stand on tippy toes, any higher than that and I wail for TooTall's assistance :D), an overflowing series of trays to the left, which I try and keep tidy but it's a losing battle. The phone and answering machine are wedged between my keyboard, PC box and monitor - thank goodness we have the new flatscreen monitors in our place at last! A shelf just above head height to the right, under which live the ever growing row of A4 lever arch files that contain the latest financial returns from the schools. In between my desk and PartyGirl's lives the NEG mountain, which sits unloved and unwanted in no man's land when we're both busy with other things.
I describe all this because a) I haven't bought my camera yet so can't do before and after pics and b) today it looked rather different. Oh yes. Today when I walked in I couldn't actually SEE most of the desk or the shelves because everywhere was festooned with blue and white streamers and colourful A4 sheets of paper bearing the legend "40" and "Happy Birthday [real name] 40" and "O no 40" and other witticisms.
"Subtlety" is not a word in my colleagues' vocabularies.
It looked pretty darn good though :)
And at lunchtime, there was pressie giving!! Ooh I'm a lucky girl! I got Stargate Atlantis S2,a gorgeous soft black fuzzy scarf and an IOU for the OBC CD Soundtrack of Wicked (Amazon are, apparently, being retarded and slow delivering it!) from the girls in the office, and the girls downstairs bought me sweeties to munch while watching aforementioned DVDs and £15 of vouchers to spend *plots* And everyone in the office, downstairs office and FSS had signed my card :D Awwww!!! *dances*
I was a happy mousey :)
As birthdays go, this one didn't suck *beams*
