So Aunty Eve's been at home a week. I called her on Saturday, had a kind of strange conversation with her, in that she offered very little by way of chat back to me. This was unusual, it's not usually difficult to talk to her but I figured she didn't think she had anything to talk to about and that I wouldn't be interested in the minutiae of daily live.
Hah.
Now I think she didn't WANT to talk because Marion phoned me at work today to tell me Aunty Eve was back in hospital after her second fall in a week.
Yes, her SECOND fall. The first one was earlier last week and guess what? Nary a mention of that did Eve make to me. At all. *tappity taps foot*
The fall today was a smidge more serious, she fell and hit her head, cutting it open and knocking herself out enough that she didn't think (or couldn't) press her emergency help button that she wears all the time. Fortunately, her friend Jo went in and found her - poor lady, that must have shaken her up horribly - else she'd have been on the floor until this evening. Marion came round when Jo called her and between them they got Eve (who was sort of conscious by this point) up into a chair (yeh, I'm not sure that was smart but maybe she was trying to get up and they figured better to help her than let her thrash about). They called an ambulance, over Eve's protests, and the ambulance guys decided she needed to go back into hospital, to get the head injury checked out and also to take a look at her legs. Apparently they are very swollen and lead-like due to excessive water retention. Which means, I suspect, the kidneys have taken a turn for the worse.
So here we go again. I'm calling later on to get an update from Bill (Marion's other half) and then I'll see how soon I need to go down and visit.
Can I get a "BUGGER!" and a "BOLLOCKS!"? Oh, good.
Hah.
