..I got a Big Envelope o'Forms to fill in yesterday and confirmation today that the official start date will be April 1st. And on Thursday, I have to ring up Manpower and give 'em notice. BWAHAHAHAHAHA! *coughs* Err, yes, I may be rather looking forward to that. Mind you, does anyone want to bet with me they'll completely fuck up getting me my P45?

In other amusements, no-one in the office is saying anything to ShitStirrer about the three of us who've got permanent jobs now. Partly because it'll annoy her, partly because she's too fond of poking her nose into other people's business anyway. I'm looking forward to the look of disappointment on her face when she finds out I ain't going anywhere and she is :) (She's moving to another department from July, all saints be praised.)

If it's likely to cause lots of problems, would shifting the start date to April 5th help? New tax year, so possibly less worries about previous earnings.

But do enjoy that call. Any chance of going into the office so you can see their faces? ;)

Doesn't really matter, no P45 means emergency tax code. Which is painful. So best to be avoided. Plus April 1st means full month's salary :)

Don't know what a P45 is, but yes, if it's possible for Manpower to fuck it up, I'm sure they will.

Oh and a P45 is the certificate thing you get from your previous employer that breaks down your year's earnings to date and wot you have to give to your new employer so that your tax and NI contributions are coded correctly :) I have no idea what the US equivalent is...? *waits to be enlightened*
