It consistently annoys me that, barring The Film and certain CIN-related efforts, "Doctor Who" was off the air for over a decade. It was the books and later the audios that kept the flame burning. They drew on the established ideas of the TV series, and took them in new directions. Then the BBC (who'd already ruined a perfectly good plot arc for one publisher) decided to start it again, and they're cherry-picking elements of continuity. Oi, BBC - YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!</rant> On a lighter note, there was a time when someone could grab one of the books at random, read a line or two and I'd tell them which book it was, what was going on and what would happen next :D
