Scribblings from the Mitchy Side

It was PartyGirl's last day today, as she's off to sunny Spain for a short break before returning next week to start in her new job at HCC. So we went out at lunchtime to a carvery and dear gods, I am STILL full! I'd forgotten how easy it is to overeat at those places. Roast beef, ham, roast spuds, cauliflower cheese, roast onions, giant yorkshire pud, carrots and gravy. *whimpers* I didn't have dessert :P

We made a little presentation to PartyGirl and SS this morning, just small gifties and cards. BigBouncy, to her credit, came up with two superb farewell rhymes (she's good at those). PG got a bit emotional, SS just looked embarassed. The farewell cards were hilarious - it was noticeable that all PG's messages said how much we'd miss her and all SS's messages said "Good luck with the new job". Nobody actually said "good riddance", you understand, but....:D What was even funnier was that SS got into a boiling row with someone on the phone just before lunch and got teased how kind she was to give us all a last taste of what we'll be "missing". Heh.

In sadder news, TooTall's mother passed away yesterday. She's been ill for a while but seemed to have rallied. Dammit. To make matters worse, his dad is - well, I'm not sure if it's Alzeheimers or if it's senile dementia, but either way, he's not all there. Apparently, his reponse to TooTall saying he'd be visiting this afternoon was "We can go out and buy a computer." So it's unlikely he's even been able to grasp that his wife is dead. Dear gods. I can't even begin to imagine how you cope with that. Losing my folks was tough but this is just adding insult to injury. Poor guy :(
