Bad news/Good news

Bad news - apparently, as part of the wheeler dealing involved with my sick leave last year, it meant that I had no more sick pay available so any sick days I took off prior to April 1st were deducted from my salary. So I had £170 taken off this month, which is how I found out about it. Apparently Foghorn did explain this to me way back in September but we concluded I was probably still on the morphine at that point and didn't absorb it all :)

Good news - I got a pay rise!! *dances* I've gone up a pay point on the salary scale. Nice. So next month's salary will be much sweeter because there'll be no extra deductions :D

All in all, I'll call that a win :D

The sick leave thing sucks a bit. It wasn't as if you chose to be ill! I was hit in a similar way just after I started my current job. A course of medicine hit me hard and required a trip to casualty, and so I didn't go into work the next day - Christmas Eve. I knew that sick pay within the first six months of starting work was at the manager's discretion, and when my January payslip arrived without deductions, I thought that I'd been paid for the day off. Not so - it was deducted without warning from the February payslip :(

If this entry were friends-locked, I'd explain in more detail why it doesn't really suck that much. But it isn't. Ask me about it sometime :)
