Yes, and it was still under warranty which was the good news.

The even better news though, is that it has lurched back into life and has been running for about 4 hours now, I'm told, with nary a bad sound or BSoD. So we'll see. It could just have got thoroughly overheated and had a temper tantrum. I know how it feels :P
