The point of "The Princess Bride" is that it doesn't take itself seriously, it pokes deliberate fun at a lot of tropes, and it made fantastic use of a wonderful cast. I first saw it at university, and it rapidly became my favourite brain candy film. (It has since been replaced by "Stardust".)
