Moar Meme!

Wow, you all did pretty darn well at the musicals lyrics quiz. All were answered except for No 9 and 'm not entirely surprised, because these lines were redacted from the show some while ago, to avoid giving offence to, umm, anybody at all, presumably. Certainly they're not present in the movie but you can hear them on the original soundtrack recordings. So the answer was:-

9: "And the Money Kept Rolling In (and Out)", Evita, sung by Che and chorus.

And the winner, with 10 points, is [livejournal.com profile] commoncomitatus. Lyric quiz bragging rights are yours, at least for a day :D

So now I throw down the gauntlet again and challenge you to guess lyrics from '80's hits!

(Yes, still very, very bored at work, why do you ask?)

1. I want to watch Rembrandt sketch/I want to talk theory with Curie/Impossible I guess

2. I reached inside myself today/Thinking there's got to be some way/To keep my troubles distant - [livejournal.com profile] commoncomitatus

3. I'm tired of dancing here all by myself/Tonight I wanna dance with someone else - [livejournal.com profile] jenni411

4. My head is stuck on something precious/Let me know if you're coming down to land - [livejournal.com profile] annuala

5. Can't complain, Mustn't grumble/help yourself to another piece of apple crumble

6. Hi darlin', the kids say they love you/Hey baby, is everything fine with you?/Please forgive me, but I'm trying not to cry...

7. The blonde waitresses take their trays/They spin around and they cross the floor/They've got the moves (oh whey oh)/You drop your drink then they bring you more - [livejournal.com profile] jenni411

8. Don't wish too hard/Because they may come true/And you can't help them/
You don't know what you might/Have set upon yourself
- [livejournal.com profile] commoncomitatus

Wheee, '80's music! :-D

#3, Madonna, "Get Into the Groove."

#7, Bangles, "Walk Like an Egyptian."

Correct! I was contemplating chucking a Billy Joel song in there (Uptown Girl was a big hit here) but figured you'd get that in about 2 seconds :D

Damn, the only one I knew was the Madonna one, and I didn't see your musical post until too late yesterday. I totally knew the Les Mis, Rent, and Oklahoma ones right off the top of my head.

Awww! Better luck next time. If the boredom levels keep up, this could turn into a weekly feature :P

Ooh! Ooh! Ooh!

#4 is "Planet Earth" by Duran Duran.

But you knew I'd get that, didn't you? ;-)

[identity profile] mitchy.livejournal.com 2010-09-10 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Correct!

And I'd have been deeply, deeply, DEEPLY amazed if you hadn't. Also worried :D

So, I looked through all of this, and realised 7 was the only one I knew (Bangles, Walk Like An Egyptian). Although, if you cut out "oh whey oh" from the middle, I'd be back to not having a clue again :P

*grins* I kept taking the "Oh whey oh" out, then putting it back in again. In the end I went with giving people a fighting chance :D

Just got in, so I'm probably missing some obvious ones..

2. A-Ha - "The Sun Always Shines On TV"
8. T'Pau - "China In Your Hand"
9. Diana Ross - "Chain Reaction"
10. Paul Hardcastle (I think that was his name?) - "Nineteen"

I'm now pissed that I missed out the chance to get 7. I LOVE THAT DAMN SONG.

*petses* Yes dear, but it gave the mere mortals a chance to play :)

And all correct, bravo :)
