Jet lag, I hate you.

So I'm baaack! Flew in on Monday morning. Monday afternoon and most of Tuesday were cancelled due to lack of interest. Yesterday was my first day back at work: I managed to last until 4.30 and then called time on grounds of being about to faceplant onto my keyboard. :)

Work are suitably jealous of my tan and were rather worried by my postcard (which arrived before I did! *gasps*) in which I casually mentioned going to a gun range :D

Talking of which, while I haven't uploaded my photos yet, I do have gun range pics courtesy of the ever lovely [livejournal.com profile] katatomic and some pics from Bouchercon. Here's 3 to whet your appetite.

Firing an M-1 Carbine.

Firing a 9mm Aris with optical sight. This was the best fun ever!

And from that to this:-

[livejournal.com profile] jenni411 and I modelling mouse ears. What can I say, our friend Fran is very persuasive and quick with a camera :P

Ello m'dear

Stopped by to see what you're up to nowadays and it must be said, you suit a carbine.

NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIC!!

Good to see you mate, I often wonder what you're up to. What's new with you?

And thank you! *giggles* Everyone else seems to be nervous about this, I can't think why :D

I feel relatively safe in a country with such prohibitive gun laws. Note I said 'relatively.'

Not sure what to say, really. I haven't gone far or done much. Living in Chelmsford at the moment. Quit college, went to work for a few years, decided I wanted to go to Uni after all, enrolled on an Access course. I started in September.

I was genuinely broken-hearted when LbN closed. It was such a lifeline at a certain miserable point in my life that it was always obscurely comforting knowing it was there. Plus I had a wicked mage in the works--timing! That said, I understand completely the decision to close it.

What are you getting up to nowadays? I see you're looking at moving in the near future. (Does me checking in after so long fit the legal definition of stalking?) Have you quit RPing altogether or are you doing it somewhere else?

Ahh, glad you decided to go to Uni. What are you studying, Film? Communications?

I think we were all sad to see LbN go but it really was dying a slow death and I wanted it to end with some dignity. I don't RP any more. I'd table top if I could find a local group but no luck there and online sites tend to just make me miss LbN more. I have several friends who are well into gaming and maybe if I move to the right area, it'll be something I can get involved in again.

I'm still working at HCC, although I'm looking at a secondment opportunity. That's when you go and work for another department in the same company for a period of time but you still have your job to come back to if you want it at the end of the contract. I have an interview for the post on Wednesday so we'll see. It'll only be for 6 months but I need a change of scenery.

As to moving, a lot is going to depend on if I decide to stick around London or move away completely. I'm still pondering this, there's no huge hurry. First priority is to fix up the flat a bit anyway.

You should keep in touch more often and then you won't be veering towards stalker status :) You can always reach me here or at my old orien.demon addy which is still active.

Take care, good to hear from you!

Close. I'm looking at doing English Lit (which is your degree if I remember rightly), but with some creative writing mixed in. I'm hoping to get on a particular course at the UEA but I have a -lot- of work to do.

Yeah, I understood the issue with LbN. I gather it happened with most oWoD sites after the books went out of print, the player bases just gradually dying off. I had a look around for a good one to join a little while back--considered trying out Chicago--but ultimately none of them really took my fancy. I've never tried table top, always liked the prose element of online RP.

I'm not using any of my old accounts in, well, anything any more but I think I remember the demon addy. I'll ping my current contact details there.

Take care,

Nic
