You could also rent the flat out then rent for a few months while looking for work. Heck, rent a single room and put the rest in storage till you have the job sorted. Solves quite a few problems there including not tying you down.

Yeh, good point, I forgot about renting. But you're right, it gives me a degree of flexibility without burning bridges.
