So here I am in deepest, darkest Cornwall at the ever-lovely
halcyon_shift and
doccy who are spoiling me rotten :) So far we have played obscene amounts of Settlers (you know it's bad when you start threatening other players over their sheep abuse), slurped loads of tea and watched "Solomon Kane". Today was sunny so we ventured into the great outdoors and down to Morwellham Quay, which is well worth a visit if you're down in the region. (It's also where the recent BBC series "An Edwardian Farm" was filmed and it was a real kick to see the things they featured in the series. You can look around the cottage they used too :)). We saw the school room and playground, where Doccy and I spent several minutes attempting to throw a rope hoop over a post and failed miserably. We decided to give the stocks a miss though :) Then we watched part of the display on rope making before scampering up to the mine and doing the train tour through the local copper mine. That was oodles of fun :)
From there we headed over to Plymouth and the Aquarium. We didn't have as long in there as we would have liked, because we got there near closing time, plus they're doing renovations so not everything was open or available, but it was still good fun. As the tickets we bought give us free entry at any time over the next 12 months, I'll just have to come back after April and go and see it again. Oh woe is me :) I got some decent pics which I'll put up when I get home.
After a quick pit stop at home, we went on to the Jamaica Inn for dinner. OMG THE FOOD!! I had roasted belly of pork, with wholegrain mustard cream sauce and bubble and squeak and it was to DIE for!!
doccy had the same thing and there was much swooning and praise heaped on the food by us both. For dessert, there was cheeeese with biscuits, local yummy cheeses. Well ok, the brie was a bit ordinary but the stilton and cheddar were met with noises that sounded much like "Om nom nom". And in fact, some of it got carefully stashed in napkins and smuggled home, which seemed apt, as the Jamaica Inn was the center of smuggling in the region, back in the day. If you're ever in the area, I can thoroughly recommend this place for either lunch or dinner. The local cider is amazingly good too :D
And now we're home and letting the food sink by playing yet more Settlers. Life is good. :D
