I've been kinda bored at work lately but I've been naughty and not asked for work because I just knew I'd get given something so hideous I'd run amok with a staple remover rather than do it.
Well today my line manager asked if I had the capacity to take on a job for our section manager. Frankly, if I'd said no, I suspect there would have been a Pointed Conversation at some point, so I said yes. It turned out to be printing off 2132 pages of a 5000 page document for a court case we have coming up. And no, the pages are mostly not consecutive. I thought our section manager looked a bit apologetic.
Normally this is the sort of job that'd make me cry but actually I've been enjoying it. (Hah! She says. Just as well!!) Partly because it's straightforward - I've got a list of the page numbers, I can put about 25 into Adobe at one time to print off the pages I want; print 'em, check 'em, hole punch 'em, file 'em. Seemples. Also partly because it's good to be busy. Today flew by and I ended up working until 6pm but it went really quick. And lastly because I was involved earlier on in some of the prep for this, so it was familiar and I get to see some of what's involved in the process of taking someone to court. I'll even have to write a statement about my work that will be presented with the documents, which I've never done before. All good stuff.
Anyway, got the first 1000 pages done today, in about 6 hours and as I've got until Friday 6th to finish, it clearly isn't going to be a problem :) Hurrah for being busy!
