So I scampered home from work this evening and headed over to the UCI at Hatfield to meet my friends Troo 'n' Chris and see the film.
Excellent movie, I thoroughly enjoyed it as much as the first one. Matt D is as convincing as ever as Bourne and the supporting cast are excellent all round. What was nice was they didn't pander to those that haven't seen the first movie. If you haven't seen it, don't see this, you'll be very confused and you won't get too much help from the script. For those of us that have, we were spared clunky exposition and I was eternally grateful.
Good things:
Bad things:
So out of five stars I have to give this 4. It loses a whole star for the shaky cam. God I hated that :)
Fave bit of the movie? The Moscow car chase - jaw droppingly good. Betcha the stunt crew had t-shirts that read "Bond was a wimp: he needed a tank!"

Good things:
- Karl Urban. Mmmm. I've been tipping him for greater things ever since I first saw him on Xena:Warrior Princess. Lord of the Rings has obviously got him some attention and this was a good movie for him to do. He's just cool :) Nice guy too, I've met him at a convention and he really is a personable chap. His role wasn't particularly deep but he did it well and actively made me want to hiss when he was on the screen. In between squees, obviously....*coughs*
- Seeing a second Xena alumni in Marton Csokas made me squee hopelessly. *hangs head* I can't help it, I just like saying "I knew them when...!"
- Joan Allen was excellent, I really liked her CIA character. If they make a third (and I can't see why not), I hope she's in it. Although they were never face to face, there was a nice chemistry between her and Damon.
- Music - this is a soundtrack I have to get.......
Bad things:
- The shaky cam really did get on my wick. It was superb for the car chase but frankly, completely unecessary everywhere else. Not a movie you want to watch sitting anywhere in the first 10 rows.
- There are some serious flaws in the CIA's logic. They're told by Nicki, and they believe her, that Bourne doesn't make mistakes. So do they REALLY think he would have left a fingerprint at the scene? And if they really did check out his story about his girlfriend, then why the hell didn't they realise he was in Goa and where he said he was when their guys were shot? Hmm?
- Did they HAVE to kill off Marton Csokas's character dammit?
- Have I mentioned the shaky cam? :P
