Music meme

Not so much snurched stolen from [livejournal.com profile] lithium_doll as "flung into lap by [livejournal.com profile] lithium_doll while she made a quick getaway" :)

1. What is the total amount of music files on your computer?
about 2.70GB. I'm a lightweight.

2. The last CD you bought is?
*blanks* Gawd, now you got me. Umm. I thiiiink I got some Eddi Reader cds last year sometime. Or it might even have been "The Return of the King" soundtrack album.

3. What is the song you last listened to before this message?
*grr* [livejournal.com profile] lithium_doll sent over two songs passed onto her by [livejournal.com profile] jebbypal and they're insidious! "Sword and Shield" and "Hopeless" by Sister Hazel. Must...resist....[livejournal.com profile] jebbypal, you're in trubble!!

4. Write down five songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you.
Only five? Ack!

The Winner Takes It All - Abba.
Best.Song.Ever. Sorry, but it is. So there *nods* Gorgeous melody, excellent lyrics, and the whole song has a bittersweetness to it that is delicious.

Superman - Five for Fighting
This song has long had permanent residence in my brain, from where it launches stealth attacks, repeatedly, even now two years after I first heard it. Like "The Winner.." it's a terrific combination of melody and lyrics.

Don't Look Back in Anger - Oasis
I swear everyone has one Oasis song they know and hum repeatedly. This one I loved from the minute I heard it. I don't pretend to understand all the lyrics but I get the gist and it's coupled to some excellent guitar work.

This is Love - Mary Chapin Carpenter
Just the best lyric ever. 'Nuff said.

Joy To The World - Three Dog Night
It's the main song in one of my favourite films, which is where I first heard it (28 Days). How can you not love a song that starts "Jeremiah was a bull frog. Was a good friend of mine" ? :)

5. Who are you gonna pass this stick to (three persons and why)?
Umm, well my usual victim beat me to it *glowers at LD*. So I shall say [livejournal.com profile] thalinoviel because I have no idea what she listens to; [livejournal.com profile] itsjustaname to see if our music matches up like our movies and [livejournal.com profile] cboard_monster if only because I'm sure he'll have some good stuff there.

1. What is the total amount of music files on your computer?
I recently had a clearout so I think it's currently running at about 9gig - no so much of a lightweight!

2. The last CD you bought is?
Don't buy CDs any more - last album I bought from iTunes was Abattoir Blues by Nick Cave

3. What is the song you last listened to before this message?
Can't remember. Something off my Sing-Along playlist. A Tom Lehrer song I think

4. Write down five songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you.
No chance I could narrow it down to five.

'Hallelujah' - Rufus Wainwright
'Closest Thing To Crazy' - Katie Melua
'Perfect Day' - Lou Reed
'Into My Arms' - Nick Cave
all resonate with me generally and also because they remind me of specific people and times in my life

'Sweetheart Come' and 'Are You The One That I've been Waiting For?' both Nick Cave just because.

'Ac-Cent-Tu-Ate The Positive' - Johnny Mercer
'Love Supreme' - Robbie Williams
because they both cheer me up when I'm down and put me in a positive frame of mind.

I disagree with you wholeheartedly about Oasis - hate them, hate them, hate them. But you're right about Abba - I need to download a Greatest Hits album, just the thing for my sing-along playlist.
