We were well and truly spanked. Can't grumble about the result, we didn't even look close to catching them and we gave up 4 interceptions. You cannot do that in the NFL and win games, you just can't. So we didn't deserve to win. Bitterly disappointed but not terribly surprised, because they kicked our arse during the season and I didn't think we were good enough to beat them. But we're the Division Champs for the first time in an age and our record wasn't too shabby after a horrible 2007 season.

In other words, it could have been worse :)

We're division champs and we're going to the playoffs! One season after going down 1-15! Phenomenal!!

Watching the Newcastle v. Liverpool game, which I tuned into late. Liverpool were a goal up when I started watching and just scored a second. The commentator rambles on about how Newcastle have held out but 2 goals in six minutes have broken their resistance blah blah and it's just a reflection of how dominant Liverpool have been. I'm about to write this off as usual commentator waffle when they run some match stats on the bottom of the screen and I see "Goal Attempts: NU 1 LIV 13".

I guess it HAS been a smidge one sided :P

In other sports related news, it's a big day for my American Football team, the Miami Dolphins. We were absolutely awful last season, finishing 1-15 (that's 1 win and 15 losses :P). This season, after a shaky start, we've come back to the point that if we beat the Jets today, we'll be division champions! *bites nails* Now, the Jets have been our bête noire before, so it's not a slam dunk by any means. And if the Jets win, THEY'RE the division champs and we'd only make the playoffs if the Ravens lost (I think). Argh! So it's all or nothing. Argh! I'm going to be a nervous wreck this evening :P

Clearly 'm gonna need booze and snacks *scampers to shops*

Well that's my Yuletide 2008 fic uploaded and I've successfully managed to resist signing up for a second pinch hit, so all is well. Hope the recipient likes the story :) I'll link to it here when it's made public.

Haven't done much else today - nipped out to the shops earlier for bread and milk but that's about it. I had a moment of insanity and went into WGC....on a Sunday. The LAST SUNDAY before Christmas. *shudderfits* I managed to get parked by sheer good fortune and nothing else. Remind me not to do that again.

I watched the football this afternoon and now I'm watching the American football. It's getting very tense, important things are being decided by this week's matches. If my beloved Dolphins win today, then we still have a chance at the division title. Next week's game against the Jets, the current division leaders, is going to be huge. I may watch it hiding behind the sofa, biting my nails. If we lose (and it's 31 all in our game atm) then we still have a faint chance of the playoffs but not likely. 'scuse me, I need to go bite my nails.

I was watching the New England Patriots play the Arizona Cardinals in a blizzard. However, given that the Pats are well used to the weather and the Arizona guys kinda aren't, it became a bit one sided. The score there is currently 47-0 to the Patriots :P So now I'm watching the Steelers v. the Titans and I'm cheering for the Steelers because they're e_musings team. However, it's not going well so far.....*sigh* Maybe I should cheer for the Titans and help the Steelers win that way? :P (Although the Steelers have made the playoffs so I guess it isn't as vital as it was?)

Work tomorrow, but not for long and then I'm off until the 5th. Hurrah!

ETA: YAY!! Dolphins won! 38-31 :) Now for the Jets!
