Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] halcyon_shift, who had a spare server account lying around, I can now send out email via jusnoctis.co.uk. Demon still sucks donkey balls and will need to be yelled at, assuming I can be arsed :) But the main thing is, I can send out emails again! YAY! And receive them! YAY!

*happy*

Over the weekend, I'll immerse myself in Thunderbird and do all those lil' tweaks you do to get things just the way you want them.

So I tried setting up OE - found I could send mail but not receive it. Snarled, and rang the Demon Helpdesk. Nice man reset my password and I returned to Thunderbird, tweaked the settings. Joy! I could download my mail! Snarl! I couldn't SEND any mail.

Still can't. I don't know what's wrong, all the settings are right, I've gone through every help file I can find to confirm it. Don't even get me started on me trying to figure out how I download mail that's addressed to "lesley@" and not "mitchy@".

I'll try again tomorrow. Thank gods it's Friday :)

Ever since I've been on the internet, I've used Turnpike for my email/newsgroup needs, which is Demon's in house email/news software. I wuvs it. It's simple, friendly to use and unlike certain other programs, has never been a virus threat, simply because so few people use it.

However, Demon don't really support it any more and now, for the second time, it's failed to load. The download file from demon is clearly buggy as hell and it's finally reached the point where it flatly refuses to work any more.

Bah.

I hate learning new software *scowls*

So, bearing in mind I hate Outlook Express with the passion of a thousand burning suns, are there any free email/news programs you knowledgeable types would recommend? I use Lotus Notes at work and that's ok, so that sorta thing is fine. And if there's the option to import email from another program, that would be great, I'd hate to lose the email I've had since I did the reinstall. Again.

Thank you! :)

(On a non-bad tempered note, just got back from seeing Wanted. Eeeeeee!! 's great! Will write a proper review when not ded from squee :) )

Yesterday when I downloaded my email, I noticed it took ages and when I checked the numbers, I saw that my ISP/email program combo had rejected over 260 emails. Under normal circumstances, it rejects 20 or so and I get maybe 10 or so emails, some of which I even want to read. So I figured there was a massive email spam campaign on and on looking at my mail, sure enough most of the rubbish is the same thing.

This morning? Demon's email service is down. I'm thinking it toppled over under the weight :P

Anyway, if anyone needs to get a message to me, reply here or send a ping to mitchyuk@hotmail.com. I'll check both periodically :)

ETA 02/09/07: It liiiiiives! Hurrah! Must have snapped a hellava lot of rubber bands this go round :P
