Ooodles of hugs and congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] thalinoviel and [livejournal.com profile] bytepilot who are proud parents of a bouncing, baby boy :) Baby doing good, Mom poorly and needing lots of rest. Thinking of you, Janey, will come and see you as soon as is feasible. *Hugs*

I shouldn't have cackled so hard about there being no bosses in at all yesterday and today. I've had someone "hot desking" next to me on both days. *headdesks* So I've actually *gasp* had to work!

It's mean and cruel to thwart a mousey so. *pouts*

Yes, I can hear you all playing the world's smallest violins. I know, I know :)

Anyway, it's Friday! I am of good cheer :) Tonight it's off to see The A Team and gossip with the Janey! Hurrah!

Gosh, I keep forgetting to post in here *dusts off* I tend to post quick things on FB these days, I'm a bad LJ-er *hangs head*. Also, I'm a hypocrite because I whine like heck about people leaving LJ so I should really practice what I preach and update this thing more often :)

Perhaps I should start another 30 day meme? That encouraged me to post. Hmm. I was threatening to do compile my own 30 day film meme, I could do that. It's going to be a blissfully quiet 2 days at work Thursday and Friday because there's only going to be 3 of us in and that doesn't include any managers or people who like to give me jobs *evil mousey grin*. I think I shall peacefully compile a meme and start it on the 1st August. What sort of movie questions would you like to see, people? Can you think of anything other than the routine best/worst/fave etc.?

In other news, there's no other news. I'm still job hunting like crazy but it's a poor time of year for opportunities. I've been contemplating a move to Kent but I dunno, the job situation seems very poor indeed. But I've got about 10 months, I reckon, before the restructuring here hits my level, so I shall keep looking. In the meantime, if something great came up in Herts, I'd have to go for it, I'd be daft not to.

This week sees me indulging in a rare bit of being social for two whole days in a row! [livejournal.com profile] thalinoviel and I are off to see The A-Team on Friday night, meeting up for food and a thorough catch up first as *cough* there have been developments *cough* since we last met :P Then on Saturday I'm dragging the dear girl out at OhGodEarly to my favourite Kent beach as she foolishly expressed a wish to do such a thing this summer. Hopefully the weather will hold.

And that's all the news that's fit to print :) I must do a post tomorrow about new TV shows wot I'm watching - the tv addiction is alive and well and thoroughly kicking :)

I was hellish busy all week at work but I got done what needed to be done. I think [livejournal.com profile] jenni411 has cut and pasted a statement I made about never whining about being bored at work again. She has my full permission to post it should I forget and start whining about being bored :)

Thursday was enlivened by an evening with the ever lovely [livejournal.com profile] thalinoviel. We'd arranged to meet so I could admire her shiny new motor and also test drive it a lil'. However, we neglected to actually specify who was meeting whom where. So there I was sitting outside her house and there she was sitting outside mine when she called to ask me where I was :P There was giggling :)

Anyway, I belted back to WGC and took the dear girl out to Pizza Express for food where there was much yakking and catching up. I drove her very shiny new car home and while it has a lot to recommend it, I think I'd need to do a longer test drive to be sure. It's a smidge on the small side and feels a bit light on the road, but then I've been driving a Rover 45 for five years, anything smaller would feel light and small :) But it's definitely a model to consider, although I'm still eyeing a Corsa or a Fiat Punto.

Have done nuffink this weekend except loaf and watch tennis. Am currently watching the Men's Final between Roddick and Federer and it's a nail biter which is why I'm updating my LJ by way of distraction!

I'm off out tonight with the ever lovely [livejournal.com profile] thalinoviel. We're going over to Stevenage for a movie ("Bride Wars" - look, we felt like a laugh, ok?) and food (don't know where yet). Should be fun, haven't seen her since before Christmas :)

Leverage was excellent and well worth the wait. Best line of the episode "Did you just kill someone with an appetiser?" (The answer is "Yes, yes he did!")

Work was ok, I'm decently busy which makes the day go fast if nothing else :) Sanity is provided by kind people who put up with my emails (you know who you are).

And now there is going to be napping in the land of me, because we're not meeting until 7.30 and I'm a tired mouse.

I still didn't manage to get up early but I DID get into WGC to change the jeans I bought online. Happily, I was able to find two more pairs in the store that I could do a straight swap for, so now I have two pairs of jeans that fit. Hurrah! It's lovely to be able to go out without a) worrying I'm going to moon WGC town centre and b) be able to keep things in the pockets without the extra weight aiding the debagging process :P

Having nipped home to hastily change into new fitting jeans, I scampered over to Stevenage to see "Quantum of Solace" with [livejournal.com profile] thalinoviel. Excellent Bond film, I mean it, really good. Not sure if I liked it more than "Casino Royale", but it certainly matches that movie for quality. My only gripes were with some unecessary shakey!cam during high speed car chases and a couple of bits of really ropey CGI. Otherwise, I cannot gripe at all, the story was good, the fight scenes outstanding and the set pieces well up to Bond standard. Go see it if you can, it's worth it :)

Afterwards, we scampered over to McD's, having paused in momentary horror thinking it had snowed again while we were in the cinema. The word "jinx" was being muttered but to our relief, the white stuff on the pavement outside the cinema turned out to be soap suds :) In relief, we happily scoffed burgers, guzzled tea and yakked our heads off for over an hour :)

And now I'm home, all sleepy-like, and pondering a nice, quiet evening. I'm off to London tomorrow afternoon to meet up with Rik and Carol so I MUST make sure I get good sleep tonight!

Wow. Now that was a good film! For once, it lived up to all the hype I'd heard and really delivered. Robert Downey Jr has never been better and (to be totally shallow) wasn't exactly hard on the eyes, either :D The plot rollicked along, interesting without being too preachy, genuinely funny in places and moving in others. And the special effects more than delivered.

I hear there are almost certainly going to be sequels, to which I can only say "YAY!". In short, go and see this, it's great! And needs to be seen on a big screen at least once.

Had a lovely evening with [livejournal.com profile] thalinoviel, too, as we had a good girly gossip after the film. We also noted several movies we definitely want to go and see this summer, causing Janey to giggle as we left the cinema. "Indiana Jones, Hancock...our definition of chick flicks is not the same as other people's, is it?" :D

I can't get into this match, I'm trying, but really, I just can't. It would help if I really cared about one of the teams, even in a neutral "I like them when they're not playing my team" kinda way. But Cardiff and Leeds have a history, so I don't really want to cheer for them, even though they're the underdogs and who I'd normally cheer for. And I detest Portsmouth manager, Harry Redknapp, for the way he behaved when he left Pompey a few years back. So I'm just a ball of "meh" over it, really.

So far, it's not a bad game, Portsmouth are leading 1-0. I think I'd like Cardiff to at least score and make a match of it, but I suspect Pompey will win.

Off out to the movies tonight with [livejournal.com profile] thalinoviel, we're going to see Iron Man. I'm looking forward to it, I've read nothing but good reviews. And yes, I know to stay until after the credits :).

We were going to go to G-A-Y, a club in London, to see Idina but financially I can't really do it and Idina doesn't even go on stage until 1am which makes travelling a bitch. (It's half an hour after my last train home from King's X for a start :P) So we're giving it a miss and doing the movie thing instead. It will be nice to see Janey, I haven't seen her for aaaaaages. I foresee a good girly gossip in our near futures :D

*streeeeetches*

That's better :)

Had a busy day at work yesterday, was glad to stagger home. I'm happy to report Manpower coughed up two weeks pay, so I've paid the mortgage a week early, so I know the most important bill has been done.

Got home just as my mobile rang and it was [livejournal.com profile] thalinoviel, asking if we were still on for the evening. *sighs* Clot that I am, I'd completely forgotten we'd plotted an evening of pizza and gossip! Cue frantic scampering to clear the worst of the crap off the sofa and out of the hall so that Janey could a) get in and b) would have somewhere to sit :)

We had a lovely evening; Janey supplied the pizza and garlic bread, I supplied the movie (Overboard, 80's rom-com with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell - I love that movie!) and we both supplied much yakking of the catching up with each other kind. 'Twas a lovely evening! *snugs her a Janey*

And now it's Saturday, there's Arsenal v. Tottenham on the telly, I have no work until Thursday and all is right in my wee mousey world. *curls up happily with a mug of tea*

Saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix tonight - was brilliant! I actually preferred it to the book, which drove me ding dong in places. I will write up a coherent review tomorrow, too sleepy to do so now.

But I do want to say one thing...

[livejournal.com profile] thalinoviel is a great pal :)
