...because they never win when I do!

Millwall 1 Leeds 0 - it was a close game and then one of our players got sent off. I think he deserved it actually but I suspect I'm the only Leeds fan who does. Anyway, we held out until the 84th minute and then the Millwall bastards scored. Bah!!

I shall console myself by watching sport for the rest of the day and hope for better results ;) Fulham v. Sunderland first and then a hop across the pond to the NFL and Packers @ Lions followed by Colts @ Patriots. I'm hoping for some very good contests :)

Sundays - if you're a sports fantatic, they're just as religious :D

Glorious weather here today, perfect for watching football. It was the first League home game of the season at Stevenage today and I proudly tore out the first season ticket from my shiny season ticket book :D The game wasn't bad, finished 1-1, which was probably fair. Carlisle scored first, very late on, so a draw was good for us! We didn't look as crisp as we did last Tuesday, when we thumped AFC Wimbledon 3-1 in the League Cup match, but then they're a division below us. Carlisle were sterner stuff and it did show that we've still got an awful lot of work to do. Still, we didn't buckle, we fought back for the draw so there's hope. :)

And it was glorious to sit in the sun and bask happily!

Afterwards, after a brief pit stop to check the cricket and pick up my Kindle, I toddled over to The Stanborough and treated myself to a steak dinner. [livejournal.com profile] jenni411 is entirely to blame for this, having mentioned earlier in the week she was watching a cookery show where they were doing steak with peppercorn sauce. She went out for steak last night :D Today I had the 10oz rump steak (medium rare) with the brandy and peppercorn sauce, chips (gods, they were HUGE!), mixed salad and coleslaw. And then happily grazed on the cheeseboard for dessert - the brie was particularly nice and the Stilton was delicious :D

SOOO full but as usual, I regret nothing, dammit!

Oh! And Leeds were on TV at lunchtime and I was able to watch most of the game before having to scamper off to Stevenage. We won, 1-0! Hurrah!

So I stayed up until 4am to watch the Mets rout the Astros 11-3. Unfortunately, I was woken up by a violently upset stomach at 5.30am that kept me awake until 7am when I was sure I wouldn't need to scamper to the bathroom at high speed. *sighs* So my sleep patterns are well and truly screwed. But at least it WAS the weekend and I could snooze until 2pm :) And yes, I feel better now but now have conclusive proof that I cannot eat pizzas with spicy beef or pepperoni on them because they hate me and will get their revenge.

Seeing as my sleep patterns are fubar'd anyway, I'm going to stay up and watch the US Open's Women's Singles Final later on. It's been a good day for sport, so I'm confident my gal, Henin, will win :) Yesterday's semi-final, against Venus Williams, was one of the best tennis matches I've seen for many a year. I broke into spontaneous cheering and applause several times. Hee!

As for today, well England beat India to win the ODI series 4-3. Our rugby team beat the USA to win their first game in the Rugby World Cup. And the football team is currently spanking Israel 3-0 in our must win Euro Championships qualifier.

And in domestic news, my beloved Leeds Utd, hit with a 15 point penalty before the season started won their fifth straight game today to reach the grand points total of zero. I'm so proud of 'em. Two more wins would see us off the bottom of the table *beams*. And annoyingly, without the points penalty, we'd be top of the League One table right now. But never mind, these days with Leeds, I take the victories as we get 'em!

Right, off to watch the baseball. Go Mets! Ah luvs my weekends! *beams like a spotlamp*

Today was busier in places, but still with dull patches. However, we did get some good work done, and got through a metric shitload ([livejournal.com profile] ursulav) of phone calls/queries. Go team us!

The sunset tonight was absolutely stunning - all pinks, mauves and purples. Gorgeous. If this keeps up, I really will have to start taking a camera to work.

Congrats to Hugh Laurie for snagging a Golden Globe for "House". Hurrah! I was hoping he'd win :) And boo hiss to Fox TV who have pre-empted his show tonight for a two hour premiere of "American Idol". Blech!

Plans for the evening is to watch Leeds v. Wigan in their F.A.Cup 3rd Round Replay. I don't think we will win but when you're a football fan, logic just doesn't play a part. C'mon Leeds! Eat 'em raw!!!

ETA: Oh dear gods, it's gone to penalties and we've just missed the first one...*sobs*

ETA2: *MASSIVE MITCHY TEMPER TANTRUMS*

We lost on penalties, having THREE *@#%@*#* times clawed back to tie the game 3-3 in regular/extra time, only to MISS TWO FRICKIN' PENALTIES! ARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

*Throws things and generally has a strop*
