*topples over* Gee-zus! That filing was painful! I finally stuffed the last piece of paper into its file at 4pm. I've done nothing but file things for two solid days. Next time I go away for a week, remind me to bring a flamethrower into work with me.

Talking of paperwork, I am currently working through the mountain of Nursery Education Grant forms that have accumulated. Most of the pile, to be fair, has come in the last three days. Yes, it needs doing and I will do it, but it's not really a long job and the deadline isn't until next week. So if PartyGirl "hints" I need to start the damn forms one more time, I will throttle her. I'm not the one who's dragging her heels and avoiding work, I've been slogging my guts out for two days. She, on the other hand, has let her Annual Returns forms accumulate for two weeks, now has a mountain of 'em to sort out and is moaning about it. On top of which, she is taking procrastination to new and irritating levels. Yesterday afternoon, she disappeared downstairs to see Maggie and get some stationary stuff. Half an hour later she returns, doubtless having spent the entire time yakking, with a wet wipe normally used for monitors. And then she spends 15 minutes carefully cleaning her phone. Because it was dirty. For fuck's sake!!

I want to know what she spent last week doing. It wasn't processing NEG forms, because from what I can see, she's only put through two more batches since I left a week ago. 80 forms minimum. I can get those done in a morning. So what the feck was she doing for four days, eh? Fuck all, I bet.

Grr!!

If she tries to fob those Annual Return forms off onto me, there will be a row. Oh yes.

Anyway, I had a lovely lunch with Pauline, my ex-colleague from the Family Placement Service, today. We went to our usual café in Hertford and I tried the Cheese Ploughmans. Wow! What good value for £3.70! Six wedges of cheese - two each of brie, cheddar and smoked, five pieces of warm, crusty bread, two pats of butter, 1 dish of chutney, 1 bowl of pickles, two baby beets and a side salad! Phew! I didn't manage the beets, but everything else got scoffed happily :) Pauline indulged in a toasted tea cake with extra jam, there was much bitching about work (always cathartic!) and a good time was had by both. I won't see her now until June because she's off on holiday soon.

*watches as Steve McClaren's team gets demolished in the UEFA cup final* And this is the man we've hired to be England Manager for 4 years, because he'll bring us success on the international stage? *sobs*

I need tea :)
