Scribblings from the Mitchy Side

Fixed the sound problems today so now everything is all tickety boo. *cuddles new compy* And the cricket is proving to be very interesting, so I'm a happy mousey today :)

Now if you'll excuse me, this cider isn't going to drink itself! :D

My new computer, it is very shiny. But I've hit two major, major snags. First know that I have now installed XP (from a licenced MS OS disk) and that the first problem existed in both Vista and XP but the second is a "since the reinstall" problem.

Snag the first: BAHLEETED - doccy fixed! Yay!

Otherwise, I am very happy with the new box. I watched two tv shows and some YouTube videos yesterday and it didn't crash once! \o/ Joy to the mousey :)

The compy's arrived! It's infested with Vista but the cure for that will hopefully be delivered tomorrow in the form of XP installtion software :D I've got the basics but I'm not troubling to install Trillian or my email program, on the grounds that everything's getting bahleeted tomorrow when I do the new install. So I shall be least seen girly tonight but tomorrow I shall be back with a vengeance!!

And now to slap this compy about a bit and watch Leverage and Burn Notice! Squee!


PS: Having the dickens of a job getting Thess's compy networked to mine. Worked beautifully under XP, Vista keeps being a bitch. We connect the two compys by use of a cable. However, Vista seems to think that Thess's compy is the primary connection to the internet and not mine. So it won't let me connect to the internet because Thess's compy isn't! Any ideas how to convince it of the error of its ways? If not, poor Thess will have to cope with being internetless tonight until the XP install is done.

Bored. *pokes invoices without any enthusiasm* My new computer is supposed to be arriving this afternoon but so far thessalian hasn't pinged me to say it's there. (Oh, it's no longer a secret she's staying with me, btw: apparently the ex worked out where she was, she just hadn't gotten around to telling me.)

Don't wanna be here, wanna be at home poking PCWorld with a sharp stick and pouncing on my new compy! Only 40 mins to go :)

Got out of the office for an hour this afternoon to go to a seminar entitled "How To Get The Most From Your Money". It was run by the Financial Services Authority and although 90% of what he was saying was common sense it was nice to know I've been thinking along the right lines :) I did get some useful info about investments and some VERY useful info about some of the benefits I can claim as an HCC employee. Apparently, there are discount schemes for Bupa, Specsavers, the AA/RAC, a dental plan scheme, discounts for local gyms, AND (best bit) something called FlyPark which gives discounts for airport car parking *glee*. You can bet your boots 'm going to be investigating these!

*finishes tea, looks at empty mug mournfully* I ran out of tea before I ran out of slurp :P
